Our Mission is to restore hope and provide opportunities for people to become all that God intends them to be; to put our Lutheran faith into action through service to the community.
Family Promise Chicago North Shore
St. John’s is a host site for a transitional housing network serving families in homeless situations. Once a quarter, we provide meals and housing in our church building for up to fourteen persons for one week. Volunteers are needed to provide food as well as evening and overnight hospitality.
St. Paul’s Soup Kitchen
St. John’s volunteers help serve the Sunday afternoon meal at a soup kitchen in Evanston. Set-up begins at 1:30 PM and dinner is served at 3 PM. Donate food items, prepare a dish, serve or chat with guests and help with clean-up.
Quilting
Group meets the 2nd and 4th Thursdays of the month. They have sewed and shipped over 1000 quilts to families in need. Come for the morning or afternoon session or both. Beginners welcome.
12-Step Support Groups
St. John’s hosts seven groups that meet weekly, including AA and Alanon.
